A few days ago, the second batch of 2 meters rail locomotives developed by CRRC Qishuyan Company for Kenya was successfully shipped out of the factory. This type of meter rail locomotive is a new type of locomotive jointly provided by CRRC Qishuyan Company and China Road and Bridge For Kenya's meter rail transport channel.

Since March 2021, CRRC Qishuyan Co., Ltd. has signed a purchase agreement with China Road and Bridge for a total of 16 meters rail locomotives with three axle loads of 12.5 tons, 14 tons and 18 tons. This is another in-depth cooperation between the two sides to serve Kenya's railway transportation after the nairobi-Mombasa-Nairobi Railway project of 56 standard rail locomotives.

The restoration of the old meter rail line more than 100 years ago is an important measure taken by the Kenyan government to further release the pulling effect of the Mombasa-Nairobi Railway, improve the domestic railway capacity and drive economic development. CRRC Qishuyan company fully investigate the characteristics of the line, docking customer needs, customized development of low axle load AC and DC electric transmission meter rail diesel locomotive. The series model system is simple, strong applicability, easy to maintain, can be used in rainstorm and sandstorm areas.

The first batch of two locomotives arrived in Kenya, which have completed various tests and successfully passed the customer's acceptance, and are now serving two meter rail lines from Nairobi to Kisumu and Nanuki. One of them, Locomotive No. 1, ran 38,000 kilometers in four months.
